Dr. Corey L. Brown is a native of Jacksonville, FL., and a product of the Duval County Public School System. He received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting from Alabama A & M University in May 1994; received a Master of Divinity Degree from the Samuel Dewitt Proctor School of Theology at Virginia Union University in May 2002; Doctor of Ministry Degree from United Theological Seminary in Dayton, Ohio in December 2006.
Currently, Dr. Brown serves as the Pastor of Providence Baptist Church in Newport News, Virginia. Dr. Brown has implemented several ministries. "Happy Hour", a noon day bible study, provides the opportunity to take a break from your busy day to study and learn the word of God. "Higher Learning" is the tutoring ministry staffed by qualified teachers to assist students with their academic needs and prepare them for the collegiate level. "Joshua's Generation" is a ministry designed to train and develop potential leaders. "Sistas With Vision (SWV)" is a ministry for the women and "The Brother's Network (TBN)" is for the men of Providence. This is an opportunity to discuss issues pertaining to women and men in a biblical context.
Dr. Brown's ministry and vision is not contained within in the walls of Providence. This is evident with the implementation of " Christmas in June". "Christmas in June" is a ministry that meets the needs of the community by providing clothes, toiletries, small appliances, toys, books, and more.
He has served as the Minister of Christian Education at First African Baptist Church in Richmond, VA during the Pastorate of Rev. Dennis E. Thomas. He also served as Co-Director of Third Baptist Church's Summer Enrichment Program in Portsmouth, VA under the leadership of Pastor Joe B. Fleming.
Dr. Brown served as the Pastor of College and Young Adults at Bethel Baptist Institutional Church in Jacksonville, Florida where Dr. Rudolph W. McKissick, Sr. and Dr. Rudolph W. McKissick, Jr. serve as Senior Pastors.
Dr. Brown was honored to be chosen as the guest speaker at Virginia Legislative Black Caucus Interfaith Prayer Breakfast (2010). He is the author of two devotionals, Emerge: little by little and Get Your Aim Right.
He is married to the former Veronica Keene. They are the proud parents of two children, Sean and Michelle.
Dr. Corey L Brown tactfully presents a focused, clear and coherent curriculum designed to affirm one’s priorities for success. In 2009 while President Obama was halfway through his forty minute address to the Congress on adequate universal health care, Representative Joe Walsh screamed out, “liar”. This became the first time a U.S. President was so overtly disrespected in the chamber of congress. While the president could have been distracted; with class and tact, he ignored the incident and kept plotting his course until the bill was passed.
Get Your Aim Right is a timely masterpiece equipped with precepts deemed necessary for anyone to maintain focus while distracted. This book will help you visualize, affirm, and focus on one goal at a time as you take action towards attaining greatness. It’s a must read!
